Emotion Poems

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

What is an emotion?  With Miss Clarke, the children listed all the emotions they could think of.  They then chose one to write a poem about.  They needed to think about words they could use to make their writing effective.

Happiness
by Craig
Happiness is when I go on a plane.
I see the airport and control tower,
I hear the planes taking off and landing,
I smell the jet fuel from the plane’s engine,
I touch the window in the plane,
I taste the chippies on the plane.

Pain

I see my finger squashed,
I hear the car door slam on my finger,
I smell a little bit of blood,
I taste my saliva.

Excitement

Excitement is when it is Easter morning.

I see a basket full of chocolate at the end of my bed,

I hear my brother stuffing his face with chocolate,

I smell hot cross buns and they smell delicious,

I touch the Easter bunny’s tail which got stuck in the door,

I taste delicious muffins that just came out of the oven.

Annoyance

by Nye

Annoyance is when someone starts talking and never stops,

I see a mouth open and never close,

I hear words that never stop,

I smell like I’m getting annoyed,

I taste like I want to punch him,

I touch the doorknob and get out of the room.
