We have been working on creating some really interesting and unusual similes, ones that put pictures in your head. The children were given lists of nouns and verbs and asked to use them to create these similes. Have a look at some of the ones they’ve come up with:
A tower fell like leaves into a handbag… Dean
The mirror slept as quietly as a mouse… Sunny
The baby raindrop cascaded down the rainbow as bright as sunlight… Mini
The apple cascaded off the tree like a falling leaf… Annika
A smile giggled like sunlight… Ella
The mirror looked like a sparkling star… Aiden
The apple smiled like giggling sawdust… Xintong
The raindrop smashed like a racing car… Tilly
The spoon giggled like water… TJ
The apples rolled down the rainbow like a race car… Zara
