When we talk about capacity, we are talking about how much a container can hold. The boys know that when they measure, they need to use the same unit all the time, and the units need to be leveled. So if they are using a cup to measure with, they need to make sure the cup is full and the top is level. We’ve had a lot of fun measuring using sand and water – here are photos of the boys using sand, water and other objects to measure and order the capacity of containers.
