What sort of container can we make with one sheet of A4 paper? This was the question posed to the boy tribe yesterday. With a partner, they needed to try and make the container with the largest capacity, the one that would hold the most popcorn. This led to much plotting and planning. It was great to see the number of different shaped containers that eventuated – cones, prism and cylinder shapes. We discovered that it was the almost-prisms that held the most – the rectangular objects. It was surprising that one sheet of paper could make containers with so many different capacities.
