We enjoyed the book Fortunately today. Fortunately helps illustrate the structure of Narratives – how a problem happens and then it is resolved. But in Fortunately, problems just keep on happening!
We followed up the reading with an oral game of Fortunately, Unfortunately. Then the children wrote their own versions of Fortunately. Here are some:
Fortunately it was a great holiday. Unfortunately, there were lions! by Kiarn
Fortunately I was going to school on a bridge. Unfortunately, the bridge started to break. by Kate
Fortunately it was the weekend and I could play Minecraft. Unfortunately, I was banned from the X-B0x. by Tyson
Fortunately I was going on holiday. Unfortunately, the airport wasn’t working. by Arapsima
Fortunately I made a big cake. Unfortunately, a little boy ate it. by Zarah
Can you add some more Fortunately, Unfortunately? See if you can finish with a ‘fortunately’ so we know what happened next.
