Parachutes

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

We have been spending some time with Parachute, written by Danny Parker and illustrated by Matt Ottley.  parachute

Today we made parachutes from plastic, wool, sticky tape and pegs.  Then we went outside and dropped them from the playground.  We had a lot of fun!

After we had floated our parachute, we watched this video about how parachutes work:

Once we had watched the video, we wrote an information text about how parachutes work.  Here are our two Chloe’s texts:

Parachutes let you glide to the ground safely.  Without a parachute, you go to the ground very fast but with a parachute you glide.  If you don’t have a parachute, you will fall fast.  by Chloe C

The Earth’s gravity pulls the parachute to the ground.  The air goes into the parachute and the person lands safely on Earth.  You need to pull the ripcord so the parachute pops up. by Chloe W
