Wilkinson’s Homestead Visit

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

We really enjoyed our recent visit to Wilkinson’s Homestead, despite the cold and wet weather. We learned a lot about how people lived in the past and participated in several different activities.

Did you know that people in the past had to recycle a lot? They often didn’t have very much money so had to “make do” a lot of the time.  What were some of the things they recycled?  What did they make out of recycled materials?

We played lots of old fashioned games and had a great time!  We played marbles, quoits, hop scotch and knuckle bones.  The knuckle bones were tricky to use.  Just as well the parent who was helping us knew how to play the game.

We got to cook scones and learnt that people in the past would have made them in the same way.  We used butter, flour and milk.   They tasted great!
