What’s in the bag?

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

We are currently working on recount writing.  A recount begins with a setting, moves onto events and finishes with a concluding statement.  It tells the reader about something that has already happened.  Providing the children with an experience to write about helps generate vocabulary, increases motivation and is just plain fun!  So today…  well, I’ll  let the children tell the story in their own words:

Today Mrs Wolfenden tricked us with spaghetti.  It smelled like vomit.

First she gave us a bag.  We had to smell the bag and feel the bag and squish the bag.  The smell was the worst.

Then we opened the bag.  I thought it was dead meal worms.  It was super disgusting.

Even if it was disgusting it was a fun time.

Today Mrs Wolfenden tricked us by putting spaghetti and it smelt disgusting.

First we smelt the bag and it smelt like cheese, so I thought it was cheese or garbage.  It felt like worms.

After that we opened the bag… and it was spaghetti and we played with it.

Even though the spaghetti was disgusting, it was fun.

Today Mrs Wolfenden was a clown.

First Mrs W cooked it.  Then we felt it.  It felt like spaghetti.  Then we smelt it.  It smelt yuck.  Then we stuck our hand in the bag.  It was gooey.  It was rotten.  Mya thought it was yum.  Even if it was disgusting we still had fun.
